Travel DAY 1 Because this is before the trail starts I’m just going to quickly said what happened today and tomorrow for my travel days to trail. Today I left home at 6am. My flight was 9am and I arrived to Palm Springs at 12pm. I met Mike and he gave me a ride to Idyllwild. While we were driving I felt some effects of altitude sickness. Headache, chest heavy. Mike drove me to Nomad Ventures because first stop was picking up trekking poles because I couldn’t take them with me from Canada. Coming out of Nomad Ventures I met Greg. He recognized me from my instagram which is super cool. We chatted for a bit before I said I should find a place to stay as I don’t have one yet. He messaged his trail Angel and she said I could stay with them. What a wonderful community. Within 5 minutes I went from looking to a place to having a place to stay :) While we waited for our ride I went and got a chocolate milkshake. They picked us up, took us to their house, we met their dogs, (one actually is a foster and needs a home, the sweetest German shepherd named Lucy) We then drove back into town (Greg and I) and explored a bit in Idyllwild. I got my bracelet from last year, held a snake for the first time, and got my resupply at the store. Once we got back to the house I organized my resupply. We ate Mexican food (I got enchiladas) and I ate it in 8 minutes haha. Record time. Then I retired to my room, watched my show and fell asleep early. Travel DAY 2 Today I slept in, packed up my gear, and John arrived to take me up to Santa Clarita (a three hour drive) He is a hiker from last year and lives in Arizona. We went to the post office first and then got a burger from PVC. Honestly one of my favourite burgers haha. We drove and chatted all the way to Santa Clarita. I fell asleep for a little bit too. I then checked in and said farewell to John. I couldn’t thank him enough. What.a great friend. I ordered spicy nuggets and a chicken sandwich from Wendy’s. yum. And then went to bed after watching my show.
