Day 31...
Woke up today in the hotel and knew in my heart that I couldn't hike today. I would have to skip ahead 20 miles to Wrightwood and meet Charlotte there when she hikes in. I feel sick and my foot hurts from yesterday's mileage. I knew I shouldn't have pushed that long day, but I needed Macdonald's... So I found a place to stay in Wrightwood and then found 2 hitches to get me there from Cajon Pass.

When I arrived I looked into getting a massage to help my body feel better and went to the Hardware store there to get my PCT pin they give you after signing their book and after I got some lunch in town at the Grizzly Café. I did get the massage after as well around 4 and then my trail angel who I am staying with the night picked me up and brought me to the house. We ate Hawaiian food for dinner. I haven't tried it before and it was super yummy.

The next day Charlotte rolled into town to meet up again and we stayed at an Airbnb. We plan to let her rest for a day and a half and then start the hike up Baden Powell. Which gives me 3 day's rest total. I am pretty sick now and can barely talk my voice is so hoarse and gone.

(See Day 34 in next blog)

I ended up being sick for 11 days. During that time I attempted to hike on Day 34. (See next blog for that day)

After day 34 I went to the hospital the next day to get some antibiotics and a diagnosis about what is wrong.

I started to get a cough coming out of deep creek hot springs, so this was a long time coming. The ER diagnosed me with “Otitis Media” and “Laryngitis”. Basically that means I had a brutal ear infection and my throat was sick to the point where I couldn’t get talk and my chest and throat was in pain. I was coughing and throwing up. The antibiotics made me more sick before I got better.

Not too much to say about these days of rest and being sick except that during this time I met my new hiking partner for the time being named Roy or “Killdeer” named after the bird. And I rested and slept a lot and watched a bunch of Netflix to pass the time.
My foot and hip were also hurting a bit as well so I guess the rest was good for those ailments.

I did get to thankfully catch up a lot on my blogs during this time. Near the end of me being sick when I felt well enough to sit at a table the Airbnb host lent me her computer so I could write properly instead of on my phone :)

I can't wait to get back on trail and feel better soon.
