Day 97

15ish miles hiked?

Today I was going to CRUSH a 20 miler day. But…. Then I did the math and realized that even if I did a 20 today I would be behind schedule of getting to Burney/Shasta (because of that darn post office issue in Tahoe)
So I decided to hike out and meet everyone in Truckee a day early and wait for them (keeping me on schedule)

I rather skip a few and come back to do them later then not be able to make it to my target in time and get my ride to pct days.
This was the right decision for me :)

The day was easy! Besides the pack weight being crazy heavy with those darn cheeses and meats I was feeling great. I saw some beautiful lakes, saw another marmot. And ate my snacks near another lake that I was so so tempted to swim in.
I kinda regret not swimming in it now though.
I hiked out the 6 miles in the insane heat and then worked for about 40 minutes for a hitch.

I eventually got out my sign and covered everything but pct hiker and then kept trying. I had a couple drive past me while reading it and I thought nothing of it but they turned around and parked down the street and walked towards me saying they will give me a ride! And all the way to Truckee! That was awesome of them and I was so grateful!
I got to the hostel, booked my room (so expensive omg 😭) and then went out to take myself out for dinner :)

I truly enjoy exploring towns by myself now, before I would be so scared and uncomfortable and now I absolutely love it 🥰
