Head Above Water,

A Pacific Crest Trail Journey

Day 95

9.24 miles hiked

Today I left the vortex that is Tahoe finally. 301 offered to give me a ride to the post office to pick up my packages and then to the trailhead. Super appreciated! What a cool dude too.
I got some ice cream before I hit the trail and started my hike at 12pm.
I knew today would be hard but I definitely didn’t anticipate it being this hard.
My pack was heavy because I packed cheeses and meats and bread and butter this time. So that weight caused my feet to hurt within the first 3 miles… which hasn’t happened since the desert. Yikes.
The terrain was also brutal on my feet and ankles. The elevation was easy though. So instead of my planned 15 miles I managed just under 10 and tomorrow I will push it harder.
I took lots of breaks today because of my period cramps. That was the main reason I stopped early. I needed to rest and take pain killers and eat and well cry doubled in pain really haha.
I also bleed through my tampon so I had to wash my clothes as well when I got to camp.

I had a horrible interaction with a weekend hiker today too. I ended up camping somewhere else on the other side of the trail. Shook me a little bit, I’m just straight up appalled.

After dinner, I rolled out my hip flexors and then I saw a gorgeous sunset, watched my show and wrote this blog :)
