Day 8 41.5- 47.8 miles
6.3 miles hiked

I woke up this morning feeling great and ready to take on the day and get back on the trail. After I took a shower I spotted Jake, Erica and Willow at the dog park so I went to go visit and say hi for a bit and then I started packing up my camp and met the other PCT hiker that was camped next to me. His name is Derby and he’s done the AT and the CDT already. Pretty freaking cool now he’s going for the Triple Crown. I visited with him for a bit and we ate some breakfast (which he judged me for because I ate a ramen bomb for breakfast instead of normal breakfast food). I went to go show Erica which gear was going ahead to Kennedy Meadows and which gear was going home. They were nice enough to offer to ship my gear for me, which I really appreciated. Once I was fully packed up and ready to go Erica and Willow went with me to see me off on the trail. Along the way we stopped and said goodbye to Jake. I’m really going to miss these wonderful humans and especially Willow who is just the sweetest pup.

I immediately got lost on the trail and had to backtrack to get to the right trail. Today, I felt great and had some good emotions circling. Just feeling how lucky I am to be on this trail and how empowered I felt hiking alone for the first time since starting the trail. I’m also camping alone for the first time tonight as it’s an 8:20 PM right now and no one else is around me and I can hear all the wonderful sounds of the trail. I took it nice and easy today because I knew that my hip needed to get back into it and ease into the hardship of the trail. The day was pretty easy because it was mainly flat or downhill with a few inclines. I only hiked 6.3 miles which means the next two days there gonna be a long days because I have 29.5 miles till Julian but I’ll make sure I take it easy. My phone is gonna die soon so I guess it’s time for me to go to sleep. I saw some beautiful sites today and a pretty sunset. Oh and I also finally pooped in a hole lol that was quite liberating actually and I had a very nice view.
