Day 71

13.6 miles hiked

Today myself, Coronel, Something Else and Woodstock decided to do two passes today. A double pass day if you will.
What a freaking bad idea that was.
Today was HARD.

First day back after being heli’d off the mountain I was a little nervous going over two passes in a day.
Altitude sickness wise I only had the symptom of my chest hurting and a little coughing and gagging so that was okay.

However my feet hurt so much by the end of the day. Two passes in the Sierra is a difficult task to complete.
Our plan for the day was to get over Kearsarge and glen pass and then camp at Rae lakes.
We completed this but it was one of the hardest days physically I’ve done yet on the trail. Mileage wasn’t hard but the elevation and terrain was killer on the feet and body.

After Kearsarge pass we were rewarded with a nap and lunch at bullfrog lake. It was wonderful. I fully passed out, then the alarm went off and kernel surprisingly said 10 more minutes so we slept a little longer :)

And the fact that we have 7.5 days of food on our backs. Ouch.
Descending from glen pass was very scary for me. I was actually scared for my life during some of it. I was so happy when I got down the first descent.

I tweaked my left ankle a bit on the descent because of the rocky terrain. Kinda had my ankles cave in on some loose rocks. Hopefully that doesn’t hurt tomorrow.

When we arrived Miss Pancakes and Pocket Lizard was there setting up camp! What a surprise! I had thought I saw them up on the ridge of glen pass but I was sure I was seeing things because I thought they were way up ahead.
It was nice to see them again so soon as we weren’t planning on seeing them again for a couple weeks! (Miss Pancakes was hiking with her mom and brother a bit, then going to Mexico for a day to restart her 3 months in the states)

The tramily was almost back together :)
Just missing Chicken Joe who is still ahead of us solo hiking for a bit.

We ate dinner together and chatted about the last few days and then went to sleep.
