Day 71

Zero day

Today we were supposed to get back on trail, we did not get back on trail…

We ended up camping at Onion Valley campground just before starting Kearsarge pass for us to get an early start the next day.

We left the trail angel’s house around 9 am and she dropped us off at the Starbucks for us to work on getting a hitch to Bishop.

Around 11am we were still trying to get a hitch and we realized we were running out of time. Because it takes an hour to get there via car, and the post office with my box (which I need) closes at 1pm.

We were starting to panic for sure. If I didn’t get my box I would have to wait till Monday for the post office to open again… and today is Saturday. That would suck very much.

Funny enough just 15 ish minutes later we got a hitch with …. Guess who?
Anna and Morgan! We were so happy and fit the four of us in the back with me on the SUV floor and Woodstock on the same seat as the kernel. It was a fun hitch and a tight squeeze haha.

Once we got to bishop we went to the gear shop so everyone could pick up what they needed.
I got myself a new hat and a gas canister.

Then we went to MacDonald's and stuffed our faces with fast food.
Once we were done eating we went to duck’s hotel where she had my boxes (she was able to pick them up for me incase we didn’t make it to the post office in time)
And her and her bf drove us to the trail head.
During the drive I fell asleep and apparently so did everyone else.
I cried a little saying goodbye to duck but I know I’ll see her again in Oregon when she trail magic’s us.
At the campground we hung out for a bit by the trailhead sign and then started to search for a campground. Luckily we found one because everything seemed booked with the long weekend. What good luck for us.

We eat, played a quick brain game and went to bed because we knew tomorrow would be a hard day with planning to get over two passes.

Night!
