8.5 miles hiked

Today we get back on trail! There is a possibility of a thunder storm this evening but we should be at camp by then as it is an easy terrain day and low mileage day.

We woke up a bit later as a group and worked on getting our bags packed and ate some breakfast.

Around 9 we were ready (well half of us were ready before at 8) and then we all got our ride into town from the ranch owner to then hitch up to the trail head.

Once we got into town we split up the group as people had to get a few more chores done and agreed to meet at camp later in the afternoon/evening.

I got a hitch with Something Else, Sarah, and Chicken Joe.
Us three girls were in the cab of the truck and having a blast listening to music and enjoying the ride.
Our hitch stopped near the top and we watched some hang gliders take off. That was very cool to watch in person.

Once we got to the trailhead, Something Else realized that he has lost his wallet so he and Chicken Joe headed back down to go search for his wallet at the ranch.

Sarah and I continued up to the trail and hiked together.

Duck caught up to us because we took a break at the end of the side trail where it meets the PCT trail for Sarah to get some coffee in her as she had a headache.

Once we were ready the three of us set out to hike the last 6ish miles together to the campsite.

We chatted about home, life, pets etc. and somewhere along the way we started to find these perfectly drilled holes in some of the rocks. So naturally we decided to count them as we found them.
It very much passed the time for us while hiking and we made lots of “hole” jokes like the respectable and mature adults that we are.
By the time we got to chicken spring lake (our campsite for the night) we had counted 98 holes.
So I came up with the line “I got 98 holes and I’m missing one” I’m clever I know.
Jay Z would be impressed right?
When we arrived (around 3) we found that Coronel was already there and has been waiting for the rest of the group for over an hour ha. Whoops. We waited for the rest of the group to arrive while eating chips and then the clouds started to turn to thunder looking clouds and getting all dark so we started to set up camp.
The next people to arrive (around 6pm) were Pocket Lizard and Miss Pancakes. Turns out they only arrived so much later because they wanted to boulder the rocks on the way up.

We reset up all our tents so we could be in a circle and chat from inside our tents cuz it was starting to rain a little bit. And thunder.

Every time we heard the thunder rumble we would sing thunderstruck by AC/DC. Then once we tried to film it the thunder just stopped. **Note to self, to stop a thunder storm just film it, problem solved.

Later something else rolled up around 7pm and we played a game called “the green glass door”. If you know, you know.

Around 8pm after some more chats and jokes and stories we retired to sleeping in our tents.

Chicken Joe still hadn’t gotten to camp when we went to sleep, but we knew she would roll in eventually.
