8 miles hiked

Today, because Jess and I got such a later start with having to charge our power banks and learning how to pack our packs for the first time with bear canisters we decided on hiking a shorter day.

Well, it actually wasn’t supposed to be. We started off with wanting to hike 15 miles, but around mile 6 we were basically saying fuck it let's camp at the next water source and so that’s what we did.
We arrived at camp around 5pm and enjoyed the evening without rushing to eat and set up camp.
It was really nice to also be able to be in our tents when the sun is out without it being scorching hot inside them. Gooooodbye desert.

Around 7pm Colonel showed up and camped by us. I invited him over to eat dinner with us for a little socializing time.
This is the 4th time I’ve met and talked with The Colonel now and I think he is a rad human being. I hope I get to see him again because he does hike much faster then me… he is much much taller then me haha.

We fell asleep by around 9ish and I spent a little time catching up on my blogs before I watched my show for an episode and then snoozed easily.
