A Pacific Crest Trail Journey

Day 51

Zero day/ Nero day? (Since I hiked from 12-3am today from the night hike? Ha!)

Wow, that sleep was rough… cross that. Nap. That nap was rough. I don’t remember sleeping because it just felt like I closed my eyes and then opened them a second later to the alarm.
I am So. Damn. Tired.

Our trail angel picked us up at 6:30am and dropped us off to our hotel around 7:30am.

Sadly our check in wasn’t until 3pm so we had to kill some time… and the hotel wouldn’t let us drop our bags with them so that was upsetting.

First we walked over to the coffee house for 8am three blocks away and ate some breakfast and I got myself a chai tea while Jess purchased a coffee. While we were relaxing and trying not to fall asleep from only an hour of sleep on a 17 mile night hike some locals talked to us about our hike thus far.

Then around 10 am we left and went back to the hotel and on the way picked up my box from Tigger who graciously held on to it for me and brought it with her as she had to skip her night hike due to extreme blisters on her feet.

When we got back to the hotel we were allowed into the pool area and we swam and relaxed there until about 12:30. At 12:30 the manager of the hotel gave us the key card to check in sooner and we went up to the hotel room to relax there and unpack.

I booked for a massage at 1:30 so I left at 1:15 for that and Jess just stayed at the hotel during that time.
After my massage, which was exactly what I needed because I was limping today since getting out of the tent… I went to the craft market next door that they do on Sunday’s and got a couple gifts for home and myself a necklace that I will ship home.
Jess and I then met at the Thai hacapi restaurant at 4pm and ate some Thai food.
After eating (and packed the leftovers for later) we went to the movie theatre to ask them if we could change our 7:15 showing to
6:30 because we were fading fast. They thankfully said yes.

We decided to walk back to the hotel and put our left overs away and get warmer clothes for the movie theatre and then walked back. (Stupid off trail miles)
The movie was pretty good and I bought a jumbo popcorn… i didn’t eat even a quarter of it haha.

Once we got back to the hotel we realized how burnt we got at the pool. It was painful. And hilarious how bad the burn lines were for both of us. Jess burnt her stomach except for one line that was white because she was leaning over to text.

Mine was just a bit of everywhere but the funniest was the sock line i had was now burnt because it hasn’t been getting any sun. And the sides of my butt/upper thighs from my shorts covering them.
They weren’t used to the sun.

We fell asleep like sacks of potato’s after getting back from the movie and I stayed asleep most of the night so that was wonderful.
