Day 46
Zero day in Acton/KOA

I was right... the sleep was interesting last night, but I did sleep surprisingly. I was woken up about ever two hours though, oh well.

Pool dayyyyyy
But first chores. God I hate town chores.
Laundry is the worse. Resupply is still stressful… HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHAT I WANT TO EAT ON TRAIL 5 DAYS FROM NOW???!!

I woke up late and it was wonderful to sleep in. Mostly because the trains were so loud last night and the cars too. Note to self, the KOA is a interesting place to sleep
Sleeping in on a zero day is a true luxury.

Anyways, so I get up and go get some laundry done first. It was a shit show to say the least. The washer wasn’t working because it was via an app you had to use to get it to work. What the hell happened to quarters ya know?
Anyways, after my laundry took a godforsaken amount of time to do, I decided I didn’t want to do the dryer so just hung my items out to dry and put on my hiking clothes for the day because they would dry fast on me… with today being the high 90’s…
Then I took my much needed shower.
After that I went through my resupply box to gather the food I needed for this next section. And to see what I had to send ahead food for my next stop.

Then I hitched into town, took longer then usual today, but myself, Roy and two other hikers got a ride in about 20 mins.
First stop, post office to drop off my food for Hiker town to Tehachapi.
Then Roy and I went to a saloon for food and I ordered mac and cheese, grilled cheese, and deep fried pickles. I brought the mac and cheese back to the KOA for dinner because I realized I couldn’t eat everything for lunch. Hiker hunger is low which is another reason why today is a zero, I needed to get some calories into my body after the last couple days getting into Acton I was barely eating due to nausea I was feeling and the heat. I have some mild heat exhaustion for sure.
Then we went the store to replenish some tortillas, get some breakfast items, a salad for tonight’s dinner with the mac and cheese, and some new smart water bottles.
(A treat to swap out my old bottles from lake arrowhead)

As soon as we got a hitch back to the KOA I went to the pool and relaxed there and took a nap.
Then went in for a bit on a floaty to relax some more.
I spent about 3 hours by the pool just thinking about things, relaxing, and taking it all in.

After the pool I went inside after to charge my electronics and eat some popsicles. Met a hiker named Cheezit there. He is on his 6th attempt of the PCT. Talk about motivation and tenacity. He always starts at the beginning each time too. Mad respect.

Ate my dinner and chatted with more hikers and then went back to the pool to float around some more :)

It was a good zero day.
Tonight I hope I can sleep earlier cuz I want to get going earlier in the morning tomorrow to get my hiking done by 1pm and then relax at the next town’s Mexican restaurant.
Fingers crossed!
