Day 44
14.6 miles

Today started off kinda shitty… meaning I woke up and shit my pants. But I'll tell that story in it's own blog post. It's so good it needs it's own post to tell the story. Just know that it happened.

While hiking I saw 2 cute lizards playing, a bunny hopping across the trail, a snake and another rattler. My fifth one.

About 2.5 miles from water we called for a pizza place, they said 1.5 hours and it will be there. We went at my record “pizza hiking” time and did 2.5 miles in 40 minutes. That’s crazy fast… at least it is for me.
Then we a
rrived there an hour early and waited for 2.5 hours and the pizza never showed. After we waited for 1.5 hours with no pizza we decided to hike on to our campsite. Then that was some sad hiking into camp.

The next water isn’t for 17.5 miles so we had to load up our packs with 11 extra pounds for the water too. Yikes.

The climb to camp was 2.5 miles of basically straight up. It was a nightmare.
Especially with no pizza in our bellies... We made it, but it was very tedious and slow and rough.

The sunset tonight was breathtaking. First sunset I've seen since being sick and I watched it until the stars came out. Seeing all stages of a sunset is a truly marvelous moment. I will try to see more of them as I hike on.

Now I’m writing this in my tent and I can see the next city we are heading to lit up and the stars above me :)
Absolutely wonderful night.
