Day 29
7.9 miles hiked

My goodness today was very difficult mentally and physically.
The locals were partying until 4am so I slept absolutely terrible. Or moreover, didn’t sleep. So when our alarms went off at 6:30 we both looked at each other and went back to sleep until 8am to try to get some shut eye. Note to self, don't camp at places locals camp at during the weekends.
We were very slow going in the morning. Both exhausted from no sleep.

A local took a polarized photo of us to keep so that was amazing. A great memory. We didn’t get to hiking until 10am… so we were in for a long hot day.
My calves were cramping during the first 2 miles of the day, I was struggling right off the bat.
I also started to cough lots today while hiking uphill.
We found 2 little break spots today. One for a snack and one for a little rest with some service to check up on everything. We decided to get picked up and brought to Joshua tree inn bar for some food before continuing on.
We each bought a pop and ordered Mr.Beast burger to be delivered. My throat started to really hurt and charlotte was battling a brutal headache. We decided to get a ride further up the trail and skip 9 miles to get to Silverwood lake for camp tonight.
We found a little oasis after another 1.5 miles of hiking to rest, eat and set up camp for the night. My throat started to really hurt for the last 1.5 miles and I was very glad we made this decision to skip those miles. I’m not sure what’s wrong, but I hope some tea tonight helps it.
We saw some giant birds that looked like eagles, and possibly a loon in the water at camp.
Ate some chicken broth ramen with cheese and cashews for dinner and lots of twizzlers from my snacks.
I ended the night with taking some photos of the lake and watched an episode of my show. It was a hard brutal day. But we made it through. And tomorrow hopefully will be better. We are debating a 17 mile day to get to Macdonalds before they close at Cajon pass. Should I do it?
