Day 27
Impromptu Zero day in Lake Arrowhead

Today we woke up at 8am to get to the pool at 9. We sat in the hot tub for a long time chatting and then jumped in the pool before getting out around 10:30.
We then packed everything up and got a ride to town at 11 to go do some resupplying and eat some town food before getting back on trail.
We got dropped off a couple minutes from a Belgian waffle place and had some waffles. Very yummy. After brunch we went to a sports store and I bought some PCT darn tough socks and Charlotte got a much needed gas canister.
We were still hungry so before our resupply we decided to get some Mexican food and I ordered a whole plate of enchiladas with rice. The waitress there offered to drive us to the trail after we finished our resupply, so she took my number and said she will text me when she’s off in an hour and a half.
Unfortunately, while walking around the store and town I was feeling my foot ache a little bit in the injury location so I talked to Charlotte and told her I needed to take a zero day.
I called around and got a hotel room at the Treetop Hotel and she joined me so we could stick together. The waitress (Amanda is her name) gave us a ride to another store for Charlotte’s blister stuff and then to the hotel. She also said to text her the next morning so she can give us a ride to trail. She is such an amazing human! Her boyfriend is also a high school wrestling coach so that was cool to learn about their wrestling team.
At the hotel we submerged our feet in the ice cold pool for a while to help with the inflammation in my sore foot. We spent the afternoon and evening eating sushi, MacDonald’s, enjoyed a jacuzzi Epsom salt bath, and watched Friends and the Big Bang Theory.
Our impromptu zero day turned out to be a good one :)
Can’t wait to get back to trail tomorrow and enjoy the hot springs and hitting 300 miles!
