Day 14 101.3-112.5
11.2 miles hiked

So today I slept in and had a late start to the day. I welcomed the sleep and I didn’t mind because the place I was going to charge my electronics wouldn’t be open till 3 pm anyways

Just as I was about to leave the campsite…  A past hiker now doing trail magic who's name was Giraffe came in with some trail magic.
Dr Pepper and a celebratory cake! … I actually ate some of the cake and those that know me know that cake isn’t my favourite unless it’s carrot cake or icecream cake
Then just as I was about to leave after cake.. someone mentioned there was a dog a mile behind them being carried by its owner.
So, obviously I had to stay to see the pupper
It was a border collie named Dixie and her owner is named Dad and they came hiking in with her over his shoulders 😂
She was so sweet and I pet her for about 45 minutes as she cuddled into me to sleep so of course with me being chosen.. I wasn’t allowed to leave and start hiking just yet.

I didn't start my hike today until just shy of 12 noon. The sun was incredibly hot by then and would only go up in temperature. Time to go Alyssa... stop procrastinating the inevitable.

Once I was finally ready to leave… for the 3rd time. I got up and got ready to hit the trail.

I found a shady place to put some tape on my foot, my shoes seem too small now…

I walked through the beautiful meadows in the now blistering heat (due to not leaving till 11:30am…) towards eagle rock. That was a wonderful photo op, as I’ve seen that photo many times from past pct hikers and I was looking forward to seeing it with my own eyes it for a long time!

I took a nice rest in the shade of one of the wings until a hiker named Kung Fu came by. We took each other's photos.

After the photo op we hiked on to Warner springs (he hiked about 2 mins ahead of me but we stopped at a nice shady place to drink some water about 1.2 miles out)
Today was my 3rd day basically hiking alone.

I had only planned to hike 8.2 miles to Warner to charge my electronics after yesterday’s 16 mile day but I found some hikers named Badass, Ramble, Jinx, and Lily at Warner and they asked me to hike on with them to a water source and campsite 3 miles ahead.

We enjoyed that hike and saw the sunset together in another meadow and had some great laughs along the way.
I also found a frog and held him. He peed on me but he was a good frog... which I later found out was probably poisonous.. whoops.

I’m exhausted tonight and fell right asleep.

Tomorrow will be another early wake up to beat the heat.

One note on the "poisonous" frog ( it might have been a toad BTW ), there are varying degrees of poison. With the exception of the famous Poison Arrow Frogs of Central and South America ( they get their Poison from what they eat ), the Poison found in most toads and or frogs is totally harmless to humans.
