Day 1 miles 0-8.8:
8.8 miles hiked today

Holy, this is happening. I’m at the terminus. Saying goodbye to my partner, taking the obligatory terminus photo, getting my PCT tag, and beginning my long walk to Canada.

I’ve never put on so much sunscreen during the day and still burn by the end of the night. I stopped to enjoy the view and to rest my aching feet a few times today. I met a man named Tanner by mile 3 and hiked together till 7.4

At the first water source at 4.4 I met Bill and Ty for the first time as well as a few other hikers.
I planned to camp at 7.4 however after taking a nice long rest I decided to trek on to mile 8.8 before setting up camp.

Ty and Bill Hiked with me from 7.4 to 8.8. They came across me while I was resting and avoiding the hot sun by a large rock and convinced me to hike on to 8.8 with them. When we got to camp we first took a nice nap and then we all set up camp together.

I ate 920 cal worth of ramen today for dinner. I basically inhaled it because I was incredibly hungry. I think I experienced hiker hunger right away, where as most people it takes a week.

My thighs are chafing and hurt a lot my feet are sore my hips are sore my back is sore I have a huge headache

I’m also worried about tomorrow and needing to do a 11.2 miles with only 3 L of water. I plan on getting up early and starting my hike nice and early to avoid extreme heat of the desert.

All in all I had a wonderful day that was filled with lots of pain, laughter, stories, cool people and some yucky tasting filtered water

Oh and the desert is absolutely beautiful
