A Mental Reset in Tahoe

After Yosemite with the smoke I needed some time off. Plus my ankle was still hurting, as well as my foot. So I decided to take a mental reset and rest my mind and body before the next section.

I met a man named Paul on the trail and he offered his number as a trail angel for me to stay when I got to Tahoe. So I had messaged him while I was on trail in the Sierra before I hit Sonora pass and told him my situation. He told me to message him the day before I got to Kennedy Meadows North and he will pick me up and I could stay at his place with his wife in Tahoe.
I was so thankful and agreed. I brought another hiker who was injured with me and Paul picked us up and drove us 3 HOURS back to his house. A true trail angel. Him and his wife Mary are absolutely amazing people. True angels sent to me. They allowed me to send a couple packages to their house, They let us do laundry, shower, cooked us dinner, washed our tents, took us to town, took us to the beach to swim. Just completely giving people. I can never thank them enough for their kindness and friendship and I can’t wait to visit them again. (They also drove to Truckee when I got there to give me my shorts that was delivered to their house after I left)

Over those few days I didn’t do much but rest and watch Netflix and go to town for ice cream and gear decisions and swimming.

After a few days Paul drove us to South Lake Tahoe to meet up with our friends. He spent some time driving us to get new phone screen protectors, drove our friends to the campsite with us, had lunch with us etc :)

I went out for a night on the town that night with my friends as well.

Then the next day I decided to get a tattoo. I’m still here. That’s what I got. It was sporadic but means a damn lot to me :)

I had to stay another day after my friends due to my box not being in Tahoe on time but the next day I was ready to go and hit Desolation wilderness :)
